Power over crazy mummy

Game of the week:

💥 Whoo hoo it's game of the week time. I love focusing on this each week. Play truly transforms our day and parenting in general.

I am sharing a game we invented last week. It is what Dr Solter calls a 'power reversal game' where children have all the power and you feign weakness. It affects children's behaviour profoundly, in a positive way.

My 2 decided they wanted to hold onto any legs so they could knock me over.

Yes, at first I couldn't be bothered and felt annoyed, it was the end of the day, and I was tired. However, I see these games more and more as invitations to actually make my life easier. The more connected we are to our children the more co-operative they will be. I've seen this time and time again.

So I played along. For some reason I felt playful (not a very common occurrence) and once they had succeeded in knocking me to the floor, I proceeded to crawl away, but in a very silly sort of fast way. They thought this was the most hilarious thing in the world, I enjoyed feeling a bit powerful for a moment, until they caught me and proceeded to tug me up, so the game could continue.

The reason I am sharing this is that I would love to invite you to be more open this week to the games your children ask you to play. They may seem like annoying behaviour or irritating, but they serve to support them to heal from stress and trauma and help them access their true co-operative selves.

My 2 were just so lovely after this game ❤️

Would love to hear about any games you invent 😊

Have fun. (by taking care of you first)  💕
