Stress and trauma early in life can alter children's neurobiological systems and lead to anxiety, behaviour problems, hyperactivity, attachment disorders, sleep problems, learning difficulties, depression, and physical illnesses.

Luckily, babies and children know how to heal from trauma if we give them the opportunity. The focus of this class will be on creating emotional safety and facilitating children's spontaneous stress-release mechanisms of mainly crying and raging but we will also touch on the incredible benefits of play and laughter and how to support this.

Rebecca will help us explore the topic through reflective exercises and personal explorations of crying, raging and laughter in our own lives as this inevitably impacts our capacity to support crying, raging and laughter.

We will cover:

Crying is often caused by stress: Sources of stress for children and babies

Conditioned emotional response to trauma and physiology of stress

The physiological stress response

Healthy states and unbalanced states

Control Patterns

How crying is repressed

Broken cookie phenomenon

Aggression

Special situations

Play and Laughter

Emotional safety
