About the event
We are so excited to bring to you a collaboration of Flourishing Childhood's Attachment Play workshop, Field Food's nourishing lunch, and playful dancing with Izzy from Grooveforu held at Field Food's Barn. (Full address provided upon booking)
This collaboration provides a holistic approach to parenting that nurtures the parent and ultimately the child.
Please note this is a parent only event. (Babies under 6 months can attend)
Enhanced Parent-Child Bond:
The attachment play workshop provides parents with tools and techniques to strengthen their connection with their child. Parents will have the opportunity to actively participate in the workshop, engaging in hands-on activities, games, and discussions. Attachment play creates deeper connections, improves communication, and fosters a more secure and nurturing relationship with our little ones from birth to age 10.
Practical Parenting Skills:
The workshop equips parents with practical skills and strategies they can apply in their everyday parenting journey. You will learn effective approaches to handle challenges, support behaviour, and create a secure foundation for your child's emotional well-being, empowering you to navigate parenthood with confidence.
Nourishment for the Body and Mind: (Lunch 1pm-2pm)
Field Foods nourishing lunch offers parents a culinary experience that goes beyond mere sustenance. You will enjoy a delicious and nutritious meal made with fresh, seasonal ingredients. This nourishment will fuel your bodies and provide a sense of well-being. You can enjoy a sense of community, build new friendships, and feel supported in your parenting journey.
Unleashing Playfulness and Joy: (Dance Class 4pm-5pm)
Dancing with Izzy from Grooveforu will awaken parents' inner playfulness and bring forth a sense of joy and lightheartedness. Through dance, you can let go of stress, express yourselves creatively, and experience the pure pleasure of movement, helping you reconnect with your own sense of playfulness.
Community and Support:
Participating in this collaboration offers parents an opportunity to connect with other like-minded individuals who are also seeking to foster flourishing childhoods. You can share experiences, exchange ideas, and form a supportive network, creating a sense of belonging and community.
Personal Growth and Self-Care in Community:
Engaging in attachment play, enjoying a nourishing lunch, and dancing promote personal growth and self-care for parents. You get to prioritise your own well-being, engage in activities that bring joy, and invest in your own personal development, ultimately benefiting both yourselves and your children.
Lasting Memories and Experiences:
The beautiful collaboration of these elements creates lasting memories and experiences for us as parents. You will have the opportunity to engage in the transformative workshop, savour a delicious meal, and create joyful moments through dance. We hope these experiences will enrich your lives!
Overall, parents can expect to enjoy an engaging and interactive workshop, indulge in a delicious and nourishing field foods lunch, experience the joy of dance, and connect with a community of parents!Meet your hosts:
I am a certified Level 2 Aware Parenting Instructor and regional co-ordinator for the U.K. and Sub-Saharan Africa. My passion lies in helping parents and educators to find ways to discipline without the use of punishments or rewards. I am a mother to 2 children age 10 and 7, my greatest inspirations.
I completed an MA in Counselling in Education at The Tavistock Institute in London and have done a Foundation Course in Nonviolent Communication, the Hand in Hand Parenting professional intensive, and has an ONC certificate in gentle sleep methods. I lead workshops and support parents using the Aware Parenting approach, which is attachment focussed and trauma informed.
I am also passionate about supporting parents to heal on a deeper level and am an Inner Child Journeys Practitioner. I am currently training to be a sandplay therapist and recently qualified as a therapeutic play practitioner. I also deliver Dr Stephen Porge’s Safe and Sound protocol. I work on the executive council of The International Attachment Network.
I focus on great food and believe that real health and happiness come from the simple joys of living with the seasons, sharing a meal, cooking, eating, and laughing together. Our supper club was where it all began. We’d pull up benches around our little table in Hove each month and invite strangers to share a home-cooked meal with us. We learned that the simple act of sharing a meal can bring people closer and create memories that last.
With Field Food we’re combining this celebration of human connection with a solid set of principles that guide everything we do to bring joy and simplicity back into eating. Nourishment is at the heart of this; combining our knowledge of nutrition with our passion for delicious food that has been thoughtfully produced.
As a nutritionist, my main focus revolves around helping people to rediscover the joy of cooking and eating seasonally and tuning into what their body needs. I want to equip people with the knowledge and skills to feel consistently satisfied and energised, with eating becoming natural and intuitive.
‘Movement and stillness is so beneficial for our well being. Dance is one way to move and have fun! It is the way I feel the most joy from, and I love sharing that with anyone who wants to.'
I have been involved in movement, dance and immersive dance for over two decades now. This has progressed through a few different forms and now I am facilitating sessions for anyone who wants to come along to experience the many benefits of dancing and doing that together. My sessions are for ANYONE who is interested in having fun, there are no expectations or judgements. I am passionate about creating a space where people (I encourage any gender, age, physical or mental abilities or however they identify) to feel safe, empowered and encouraged to let loose, have fun and adore themselves in the process.
There is a large amount of science as to why dancing is good for us for so many physical and mental health reasons, which I am very interested in, but it’s the magic and spontaneous joy it brings so often that I adore. Seeing that on peoples faces and hearing how it has overflowed into other parts of their life is incredible.
My sessions are a smorgasbord of genres and anything goes, cheeky pop, a lot of Lizzo, Afro, dancehall, soca, waacking and whatever feels good. The sessions are follow the leader style and the moves are broken down at different tempos to make them ‘grooveable’. I don’t expect you to dance a certain way I just want you to have fun and leave smiling.
